Labiaplasty Aesthetics

1 - What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure performed to shape, reduce or correct an asymmetrical appearance of the inner lips (labia minora) in the vaginal area. Due to genetic factors, birth, hormonal changes and the aging process, some women may have larger or sagging inner lips than normal. This situation can cause functional problems such as discomfort, irritation and sensitivity during sexual intercourse in addition to aesthetic concerns. Labiaplasty surgery provides both aesthetic and functional improvement by surgically removing excess tissue. It allows tight clothes to be worn comfortably and reduces the feeling of discomfort that may be experienced while doing sports or sitting. It also helps to reduce the risk of infection by facilitating hygiene. Labiaplasty is one of the important aesthetic procedures that increases women's self-confidence and comfort.

2 - How is Labiaplasty Performed?

Labiaplasty surgery is usually performed under local or general anesthesia and takes an average of 30-60 minutes. During the surgical procedure, excess tissue is removed using different techniques according to the patient's needs. The trim technique involves directly cutting and removing excess tissue, while the wedge technique aims to create a more natural lip structure by removing a triangular tissue. Self-dissolving stitches are used in both methods, so there is no need for stitch removal. The aim is to make the inner lips symmetrical and to give them a natural appearance during the operation. In order to avoid visible scars after the procedure, stitches are placed on the inside, making the healing process more comfortable. In some patients, labiaplasty can be combined with clitoral hudoplasty (removal of excess skin on the clitoris) to provide a more balanced and aesthetic appearance. Today, non-surgical methods such as laser-assisted labiaplasty can also be preferred, and these techniques can accelerate the healing process and provide a more comfortable process.

3 - Who is Labiaplasty Suitable For?

Labiaplasty is an ideal solution for women who experience aesthetic or functional discomfort due to the size or sagging of their inner lips. Irritation of the inner lips due to friction while walking, sitting or doing sports in daily life is one of the reasons why this procedure is preferred. People who feel uncomfortable wearing tight clothing or who experience sensitivity or pain during sexual intercourse may benefit from labiaplasty. Labiaplasty is also a suitable option for women who experience deformation in the vaginal area after giving birth. The most suitable candidates for the operation are individuals who are in good general health and have realistic expectations. For women who want to improve the aesthetic appearance of the vaginal area, labiaplasty is a procedure that increases self-confidence and improves quality of life. Considering that smoking can negatively affect the healing process, it is recommended to quit smoking before surgery.

4 - What is the Recovery Process After Labiaplasty?

The recovery process after labiaplasty is quite fast and comfortable, patients can usually return to their daily activities within 3-5 days. Mild pain, swelling and tenderness may occur in the first few days, but this can be controlled with painkillers recommended by the doctor. Heavy physical activities and sports that put pressure on the area, such as cycling, should be avoided for the first 2 weeks after surgery. Paying attention to the hygiene of the area and following the special care instructions recommended by the doctor minimizes the risk of infection. Avoiding sexual intercourse for the first 4-6 weeks will help the stitches to heal completely and reduce any sensitivity that may occur in the area. It may take approximately 6-8 weeks for the swelling to completely subside after the procedure and for the final result to become clear. In order to achieve a permanent and natural appearance, the rules that need to be followed during the healing process should be followed and regular doctor check-ups should not be neglected. Labiaplasty is a procedure that provides great comfort to the patient in the long term, both aesthetically and functionally.
